Notes: 2026-09-22 CoreCollective Windows on Arm Technical
by Nathalie Chan King Choy (Windows on Arm) 22 Sep '26

22 Sep '26

Hi all, The notes from this week's call are below. Please let us know if you spot any errors or important omissions. Thanks & regards, Nathalie -- CoreCollective Community Manager Android & WoA working groups *Attended:* Anthony Roberts, Linaro Don Harbin, CoreCollective Evgeny Karpov, Arm Fathi Boudra, Linaro Grant Likely, CoreCollective Julianus Larson, CoreCollective Matt Allard, Nvidia Mayank Agrawal, Qualcomm Nathalie CKC, CoreCollective Omair Javaid, Linaro Paul Black, Arm Rajath Nvidia, Nvidia Rick Duong, Arm Saket Jha, Microsoft Thomas Dunkle, Arm *AI Notes - please notify us of inaccuracies:* Meeting Overview - Discussed project estimates and updates for Python packages, including PyArrow and Snowflake. - Reviewed infrastructure migration and funding status for LLVM, along with GCC, GNU Fortran, Cygwin, and MinGW updates. - Analyzed enablement blockers for Open3D and Embree on Arm64 MSVC. Decisions/Key Takeaways - Anthony's assessment is that Gleb's PyArrow estimates are accurate with minimal that is parallelizable - LLVM buildbots for Windows on Arm are successfully running on new staging infrastructure and will be migrated to production in a couple weeks . - At end of funding for Linaro to do LLVM work for WoA. Would require partner funding to continue additional LLVM technical work and PGO benchmarking. If interested, reach out to Omair to discuss further. - Arm's GNU Fortran experiment: achieving a ~70% pass rate with OpenMP. Action Items - *Evgeny* - - Once released, notify Nathalie to announce the public Arm weekly builds repository on the CoreCollective WoA WG webpage news section and potentially add it to the CoreCollective GitHub page. - *Mayank A.* - Wait for Embree to issue an official release, update the vcpkg hashes and packages once available, and ping the Open3D maintainer regarding the pull request - Consolidate the updated list of pull requests requiring review/support and send it to the mailing list. - Saket - Check with Gleb regarding feedback on Python package priorities when he returns. - Omair - Complete testing of the new Windows on Arm LLVM build bots and migrate to production in a couple of weeks. Notes - *Participant Introductions* - Matt A. introduced himself as part of the NVIDIA client product team, managing ISV partner software readiness for creative, streaming, and workstation applications. - *Python Ecosystem* - Anthony evaluated PyArrow estimates provided by Gleb K., confirming a timeline of 16 to 18 weeks (including reviewer turnaround) . - Fathi B. submitted merge requests for PyArrow (currently paused) and for adding Arm64 wheels for the Snowflake Python connector. - Next Python package prioritization is awaiting feedback from Gleb K. upon his return. - The upcoming Python 3.15 release remains on track for next week, with internal release blog materials under review. - *GCC and LLVM* - Omair J. reported that LLVM buildbots for Windows on Arm have been migrated to new staging infrastructure and are operating smoothly. - Evgeny K. noted GNU Fortran configuration adjustments reached a ~70% pass rate with OpenMP. Not planning to proceed further at this time. - Evgeny K. is preparing a revised Cygwin patch for Binutils expected next week to replace an insufficient patch from a Git for Windows contributor. - Cygwin regression fix is under mailing list discussion, while a MinGW regression was reported and resolved by the community. - An auto-import patch supporting dynamic linking in Binutils is on the mailing list and expected to merge by the end of Q3. - *Application Enablement* - Mayank A. reported that Open3D relies on vcpkg, which lacks an official Arm64 MSVC release of Embree. - While Embree supports Arm64 via ClangCL, MSVC support requires unreleased changes. (Embree on Arm64 has been functional in Blender since 2024 when compiling with ClangCL, but compiling via MSVC through vcpkg fails for Open3D. The blocker is specifically Arm64 MSVC support—which exists in the code repository but is not yet included in an official release tag or vcpkg) - Progress on Open3D/NPM enablement is blocked until an official Embree release is published and vcpkg hashes are updated. - *Steering Committee Preparation* - Tomorrow's Steering Committee meeting agenda will focus on coordinating alignment for the upcoming release.

by Nathalie Chan King Choy (Windows on Arm) 07 Sep '26

07 Sep '26

Hi CoreCollective Windows on Arm WG members, Please start sending new messages to our new list at *woa(a)hub.corecollective.dev <woa(a)hub.corecollective.dev>* , especially if you'd like folks to reply with feedback / answer questions. Ideally we'd like to stop accepting messages to the deprecated Google Group soon, which means that people who try to reply would not be able to after that point. Hopefully the Google Group contact now pops up as "(Deprecated) CoreCollective Windows on Arm". Thanks & regards. Nathalie --- CoreCollective Community Manager Android & WoA working groups

TensorFlow availability for Windows on ARM64
by 'Mayank Agrawal' via (Deprecated) CoreCollective Windows on Arm (Windows on Arm) 07 Sep '26

07 Sep '26

Hi all, I wanted to share an update on TensorFlow availability for Windows on ARM64. We are now maintaining the Tensorflow fork at - https://github.com/Multicorewareinc/TensorFlow-for-Windows-ARM64 Our current plan is to publish Windows ARM64 wheel releases from this repository on a six-month cadence. Sharing this with CoreCollective group for better visibility and would also welcome feedback on whether this release cadence aligns with broader ecosystem needs or if there are specific TensorFlow versions/releases that should be prioritized. Thanks & Regards, Mayank Agrawal -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "(Deprecated) CoreCollective Windows on Arm" group. by Nathalie Chan King Choy (Windows on Arm) 07 Sep '26

07 Sep '26

Hi CoreCollective Windows on Arm technical group members, Reminder to log into your account on hub.corecollective.dev if you haven't yet. Only half our WG participants have logged in to the hub so far. If you didn't receive the account creation notice email, you can reset your password from the login page. Check your spam folder & notify me if none of the hub emails come through - the hub vendor made a change yesterday to improve deliverability of messages. We are aiming to stop using the Google Group by end of next week. The WoA Steering Committee was wondering, out of the list of projects in the backlog, which are being worked on. So, if you are working on these projects, please let us know who's working on which. Anaconda Android Studio Arduino IDE Chef ComfyUI Conda forge GCC/MinGW GDB Geany GHC Git for Windows ifcopenshell Julia Krita Libdispatch LlamaFactory LLVM maintenance MediaPipe MongoDB OpenMPI -> Microsoft MPI Perl Postgres Python Packages R SciLab Strawberry Perl SWIFT corelibs TFLite Unsloth Thanks & regards, Nathalie --- CoreCollective Community Manager Android & WoA working groups -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "CoreCollective Windows on Arm" group.
