Mayank A. Nathalie C. Omair J. Paul B. Rajath N. Tyler M. *Links shared in chat:* From Mayank: https://github.com/isl-org/Open3D/pull/7552 https://github.com/Multicorewareinc/TensorFlow-for-Windows-ARM64 *AI Notes - please notify us of inaccuracies:* Meeting Overview - Reviewed staffing transitions and platform migration updates for CoreCollective infrastructure and communication channels. - Discussed progress, blockers, and timelines for Python package enablement and long-term maintenance on Windows on Arm. - Evaluated toolchain developments across Fortran, Flang, GNU toolchain, and open pull requests for Open3D and TensorFlow. Decisions/Key Takeaways - Multicoreware will maintain a TensorFlow fork for Windows ARM64 with code syncs and releases on a six-month cadence. - Question from WoA SC regarding which projects have active CI: There is no indication on the trackers themselves whether the projects are running CI or not. Gleb is only monitoring Cryptography actively & expects that will cease once its next release restores support. - PyArrow resource parallelization and long-term timeline decisions pending validation of work estimates. Action Items - *[Anthony R.]* - Validate the PyArrow work estimates next week. - *[Evgeny K.]* - (Deferred) If requirements emerge, test Fortran without OpenMP to evaluate potential pass rate improvements. - *[Mayank A.]* - Look into what version of Embree used for Open3D & try to resolve for https://github.com/isl-org/Open3D/pull/7552 . - Look into liaising with official TensorFlow maintainers on fork supported by Multicoreware - *[Nathalie C.]* - Reach out to Linaro IT regarding CoreCollective emails being flagged as spam. - *[Rajath N.]* - Check internally and follow up offline regarding OpenAI tiktoken contacts. For Future - Don H. will cover WoA SC community management tomorrow. - Work on Fortran compilation testing is placed on hold following initial cross-compilation pass results until further requirements emerge. - Public repositories for cross and native GNU toolchains are scheduled for release by the end of September. - The auto import patch merge for Binutils/MinGW/Cygwin is targeted for completion by the end of September. Notes - *[Staffing and Infrastructure Transitions]* - Omair J. assumed leadership of the Windows on Arm and overall toolchain team at Linaro after Maxim's depature. - Fathi B. took over Python-related duties from Omair J. - Don H. as CoreCollective Community Management contact during Nathalie C.'s vacation. - CoreCollective transition in progress from Google Groups and Google Calendar to Causeway Hub. - Causeway Hub calendar invitations require explicit user acceptance to appear on calendars. - CoreCollective emails are being flagged as spam due to domain impersonation filters; Nathalie C. will coordinate with Linaro IT. - Current Windows on Arm funding under Linaro expires around September 30, with work continuing briefly while contract renewals or external partner funding under CoreCollective are pursued. - *[Python Library Enablement & Maintenance]* - Cryptography merged Windows on Arm support upstream, with new wheels expected in an upcoming release this month prior to the next major Python release. - PyArrow status and resourcing: - PyArrow progress has challenges, though overall platform status is usable and non-experimental. - Initial estimates suggest a minimum three-month elapsed timeline; Anthony R. will validate the estimates. - Anaconda roadmap support for broader missing packages is expected late this year or early next year. - Gleb K. sorted and filtered Python library requests from NVIDIA to share with CoreCollective participants once there is more certainty around resources. - Rajath N. will check internally regarding contacts for OpenAI tiktoken . - *[Toolchain Updates (Fortran, Flang, and GNU)]* - Evgeny K. built upstream Fortran and executed cross-compiler tests on native hardware, achieving a ~60% pass rate. - Testing without OpenMP will be conducted to evaluate potential pass rate increases up to ~90%. - Fortran development is paused for now until further concrete requirements or partner funding are identified. - Flang BuildBot maintenance continues, but performance analysis and optimization on Windows on Arm are paused due to lack of funding. - GNU Toolchain developments: - Auto import patch feedback for MinGW and Cygwin is positive; upstream merge expected by end of September. - External contributors submitted a Cygwin target patch to Binutils after successfully building Bash. - Public repositories for cross and native GNU toolchains are scheduled for release by end of September. - *[Package Pull Requests and Forks]* - Mayank A. submitted PR 7552 to enable Open3D CPU builds on Windows ARM64 with CUDA disabled. - Anthony R. noted that Embree support should be achievable since MSVC support was recently merged upstream. - Multicoreware created a GitHub repository for TensorFlow on Windows ARM64, planning six-month syncs. - Working group members recommended liaising with official TensorFlow community build maintainers rather than maintaining an isolated fork.
